The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency revealed that there were five main causes of hot temperatures in Indonesia this past week.
Head of Center for Applied Climate Services at the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, Ardhasena Sopaheluwakan estimates that the heat will reach 36-37 degrees in several regions in the country.
“Observations so far (temperature in Indonesia) are around 36-37 degrees Celsius,” he said, Monday (24/4/2023)
Although it is quite high, he assured that the temperature in Indonesia would not reach a heatwave like what happened in Bangladesh which reached up to 51.2 degrees, India or Thailand 44.6 degrees
meanwhile, there are five main causes of this hot temperature, first, unusual dynamics of atmosphere in almost all parts of Asia including Indonesia. Second, apparent movement of the sun which adds to heat spike from before.
Third, trend of global warming and climate change that is not only happening in Indonesia but also in many other countries.
Fourth, Indonesia is entering dry season. Where the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency predicts dry season will occur in the range from April to September 2023.
fifth, due to the maximum intensity of solar radiation in clear weather conditions and lack of cloud cover.
Meanwhile, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency noted that on April 17, 2023, area of Indonesia that experienced highest temperature was Ciputat, South Tangerang, which reached 37.2 degrees. (s/dk)
