LOMBOK – The Mandalika Circuit is absent from the 2023 MotoGP pre-season test schedule. Recently, Dorna released a pre-season test schedule for the 2023 MotoGP. However, it does not contain the name of Mandalika Circuit. In fact, 2022 Mandalika will host the MotoGP pre-season test after Sepang, Malaysia.
Based on the temporary schedule released by MotoGP, the Mandalika Circuit was replaced by the Portimao Circuit, Portugal, which will accompany Sepang Circuit, as the host of the pre-season test next year.
“Pre-season is expensive, pre-season is not free, according with our experience,” said the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, Zulkieflimansyah, yesterday.
The governor said pre-season events were sparse. So the business calculations are not profitable. “We rarely watch pre-season, so it doesn’t match the spending with the audience,” he said.
Pre-season can be done unless the people of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara and Indonesia want to watch the pre-season. “Yesterday no one wanted to watch (pre-season). So the costs incurred were relatively much more than the income,” said the governor.
iTDC as a business institution has a clear count. Of course they can’t afford to lose.
“For a business institution like ITDC, if capital is too large, I don’t think it’s possible to lose,” he said.
The governor said early promotion could be done. But of course it is impossible to do promotions every year.
“If (promotion) every year it’s a big loss(Surely) asked by the shareholders. It’s a state public company,” said governor.(s)
